Microsuctioning

Clear for Take-off: How ear wax can be the unwanted travel buddy.

As exciting as travel can be, it’s not always comfortable. The build-up of earwax is a frequent source of discomfort for travellers. Ear microsuctioning is a simple and effective way to alleviate this discomfort pre-travel and make your travels more pleasant.

What is ear microsuctioning?

Ear microsuctioning is performed by specialist nurses, under a high-powered microscope. A small suction device is utilised to gently extract the earwax. This alleviates ear discomfort and improves hearing function. Unlike other methods, such as ear drops or ear irrigation, microsuctioning is considered the safest and most effective option.

How can earwax disrupt my travels?

Infection Risk

Excess earwax can increase the risk of infection, as it creates a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. This can be a particular problem if you're travelling to a humid destination or planning on swimming. These conditions can encourage the growth of microorganisms.

Reduced Hearing

If you have a heavy build-up of earwax, it can block sound waves from reaching your eardrum. The result is temporary hearing reduction. This could hinder your ability to hear and communicate with others, as well as appreciate the sounds of your destination.

Tinnitus Symptoms

Tinnitus is a condition where you hear ringing or buzzing in your ears, without any external stimulus. Accumulated earwax can exacerbate these symptoms, and make them more disruptive to your trip.

Time and Money

If you develop blocked or infected ears during your trip, you may need to seek medical attention. This can be costly and time-consuming, especially if you’re in a foreign country.

Blocked Hearing Aids

Ear wax can effect Hearing Aid performance and cause malfunctions.
